Saturday 24th April 2010 – Belinda and David did it again! Well, their legal ceremony took place a week before this event, which is probably just as well because their vicar (a family friend) was stuck in South Africa due to the travel chaos. Not a problem for these two – stepping into the vicars shoes was one of Belinda’s bridesmaids and she was a natural!
I should have mentioned that the wedding was taking place at Hound Tor on Dartmoor, and boy, were lucky with the weather – it was perfect! It was decided that we would all travel in convoy to prevent everyone getting lost along the way. The convoy was lead by the groom who apparently knew where to go, 1 car park later and a wrong turn, we eventually arrived.
The ceremony was originally scheduled to start at 2pm but I think it was sometime well after 3pm before the open air ceremony started – did it matter? No! After the ceremony we headed off to the Yurt Camp near Newton Abbot for the reception. Yurt Camp is nestled in the woods and made up of several Mongolian style Yurts which the guests stayed in and a fabulous Giant Hat Tipi. The guests were treated to a superb Hog Roast wedding breakfast served in the Tipi which can accommodate up to 100 people. The first dance was performed on the open air terrace to a live band and the guests danced well into the evening.
This couple have to be one of the most chilled out laid back couple’s I have ever had the pleasure to work with. The whole day was just relaxing, emotional at times, fun and different! Here’s a few from the day…
Nicola and Matthew picked a fine day to get married. The ceremony took place in their local parish church at Thorverton. Nicola looked fabulous and arrived on time (just) much to the relief of Matt who was kitted out in a vibrant kilt with all the trimmings! All of the guests were greeted by a single piper playing the bagpipes.
The reception took place at The Waie Inn, Zeal Monachorum. This was an ideal venue, especially as there were a number of children on the guest list who were kept well entertained by the indoor and outdoor adventure play areas. A super wedding breakfast was served to the guests followed by one of the biggest choices of desserts I have ever seen at a wedding!
The couple were joined by another 100 guests in the evening who I’m sure had a great time as there was a disco, band and buffet to enjoy. Fortunately, Nicola & Matt were not going straight on honeymoon so were not going to be affected by such things as Volcano’s! Enjoy Disney!
Here are just a few Crediton wedding photos from the day…
We could have been forgiven for thinking that today was in July, but instead it was a gorgeous April day and one that certainly shone on Ann & Matthew. They chose to hold there wedding ceremony and reception at Wellington School and a perfect choice it was too. The chapel is stunning inside with the most amazing wood panelling and deep blue floor.
The whole day had a very relaxed feel to it, and despite being told that everyone was going to watching the Grand National on TV, I didn’t see one person around a TV. The guests were treated to a superb wedding breakfast – the Somerset Pork was delicious.
I knew that Matthew was not too keen on having his photograph taken, I did promise him that it would be very relaxed – I actually think towards the end of the day he was really enjoying having his picture taken! Oh one final mention, Ann’s parents used to be Wellington Wedding Photographers a few years ago – so there was no pressure! Most of the time they were just making sure that I was OK and had enough to eat and drink – a really nice day with some really nice people!
Anyway here are just a few of my favourites from the day…
